The Art Hotel, located in Osh city, serves as a prime example of integrating environmental initiatives into the hotel business. The owner of the hotel, Meerim Karakozueva, has rented the building for a long-term period and repurposed it as a guest house. Since the beginning of its operations, Meerim has been guided by the principle of minimizing the environmental impact of the business. Her observations indicate that 30% of modern customers prefer eco-friendly hotels. To continually enhance the environmental sustainability of its business, the hotel actively collaborates with consultants in the field.
As part of its environmental strategy, the Art Hotel has already implemented a number of significant measures. The ceilings of the building were insulated with 100 mm thick mineral wool, which helps reduce heat loss. A class A+ washing machine and dishwasher were installed, significantly reducing water consumption. The hotel has also switched to energy-efficient LED lamps and introduced the practice of separate waste collection.
In addition, the hotel installed motion sensors to save energy, electronic chip keys to enhance security, partially replaced windows with PVC, installed air conditioners with winter-summer modes and upgraded faucets with aerators. These measures have led to significant improvements in resource savings and guest comfort.
Meerim’s upcoming plans involve extensively insulating the building, installing a solar collector for hot water supply, and setting up a solar power plant for lighting. These measures will help decrease energy reliance on traditional sources and lower operating costs.
Benefits
The implemented measures have already brought significant benefits. Energy savings amounted to 19,172 MWh /year, leading to a substantial reduction in operating costs and the hotel's carbon footprint. The comfort of guests has also notably increased, as evidenced by positive reviews. The successful implementation and development of environmentally sustainable practices not only helps to reduce negative environmental impacts, but also enhances the hotel's appeal to modern, environmentally responsible customers.
Meerim Karakozueva continues to develop her vision of green business, making the Art Hotel a role model in the field of sustainable development.
