Hotel Madanur: A story of business success through energy efficiency

The small and homely hotel “Madanur” offers guests a range of services for a comfortable stay. In the hotel's café, you can order local and European cuisine and enjoy hot tandoori flatbreads baked in their own tandoor. The hotel is conveniently located very close to the city center.

Despite its many advantages, Hotel Madanur faced serious challenges in providing comfort to its guests. The Karakol residents are experiencing difficulties with central hot water and heat supply. The owner of the hotel, Balakhishova Madina, recalls that 10 years ago the hotel regularly received complaints from tourists about the cold rooms and discomfort due to these problems.

However, over the past 5 years, the situation has changed dramatically. Madina focused on enhancing the hotel's environmental sustainability through energy-efficient measures. Among them are the installation of energy-saving windows, external insulation of the building, and the transition to energy-saving lighting

Benefits

After the implementation of energy efficiency measures, the hotel's comfort level has increased significantly, resulting in an approximately 3-fold increase in the number of guests. These measures saved 57.5 MWh per year and reduced CO2 emissions by 9.2 tons per year. The additional profit received thanks to the savings made it possible to expand the scope of the services offered. For example, a new conference room was built, which also increased the company's profits.

Madanur Hotel is an example of how environmental sustainability and attention to detail regarding energy efficiency can lead to significant business improvements and increased customer satisfaction.

The increased comfort and economic return on investment encouraged Madina to continue investing in making her business more environmentally sustainable. Her short-term plans include the introduction of heat pump technology for heating the building and a complete abandonment of coal heating.
