​A PERETO partner and experts held guest lectures for students of S. Naamatova Naryn State University

One of the objectives of the PERETO project is to integrate the principles of sustainable production and consumption, resource and energy efficiency into tourism education. With the expert support of the project, one of the first universities to update the curriculum was the Academy of Tourism. Since September 2022, the Academy has been implementing a curriculum that includes the principles of resource and energy efficiency, as well as sustainable consumption and production, in project management. To share successful experience and current trends in tourism education, on December 12, Nurgul Dzhaparova, Head of the Tourism Department of the Academy of Tourism, together with PERETO experts, held meetings with the teaching staff and the president of Naryn State University.

On December 13, a meeting with university students took place. PERETO experts Maksat Damir uulu, Zhanybek Kulumbetov and Nurgul Dzhaparova held guest lectures for them.

Nurgul Dzhaparova told the students how the study process at the Academy of Tourism is organized, the features and innovations of the study programs and recommended that the students be proactive and look for internship opportunities from the first days of study. "We do not employ our students, they themselves look for employers and choose where they want to get experience, study and plan a career," she said.

PERETO expert Zhanybek Kulumbetov revealed the topic of energy and resource efficiency in the tourism sector, the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises and how these topics need to be integrated into the student learning process so that their knowledge and skills meet the requirements of business, time and the labor market.

Naryn State University named after S. Naamatov plans to open a set of students in the direction of "Tourism" in 2023. The PERETO team is ready to provide Naryn State University with expert support to introduce the topics of energy and resource efficiency in the curriculum in the new direction "Tourism"
