Energy efficient trout farm in Kyrgyzstan

The recreation center and trout farm “Forel” (trout) is based in an ecologically clean zone 20 kilometers from Bishkek. It is located at the foothills close to Tash-Dobo village. For 19 years the Company has been offering its customers the opportunity of fishing and tasting delicious fish from its own farm as well as spending time with a benefit to health. Although the owners had to overcome many challenges from the onset of the idea to its realization. Nevertheless, the center now offers a variety of live fish to be caught and cooked for customers.

The recreation center includes a sauna and hotel complex with a winter restaurant (designed to accommodate 70 persons) and summer café for 300 seats. Guests have plenty of activities to choose from, such as playing volleyball or ping-pong, kayaking in summer and ice skating in winter.

Since 2018, the Company has been using 8 solar collectors to supply the sauna with hot water and heating for the winter cafe.

Afterward the company has been introducing green technologies into their business model. They have insulated the walls, floors and ceiling at the SPA complex and the hotel. The compost pits have been also settled to collect the leaves in autumn and use them as fertilizer.

“As of now, we achieved almost zero costs associated with water heating and hot water supply. Through these heating elements, If necessary, the water could be heated to required temperature. It heats up, not run hot, which significantly impacts our costs and resource consumption”, - Kubat Kutushov
