Environmental protection as the way to attract tourists (Kyrgyzstan)

Ethnographic complex “Supara” reflects the cultural traditions of the Kyrgyz people and the way of life of their ancestors. The complex is located at the Chunkurchak gorge. During the construction only environmentally friendly materials such as stones, clay, straw and leather were used. The project positions itself around "ecotourism", the responsible usage of energy resources and water. In September 2019, as part of the KyrSEFF program, the wastewater treatment facility was replaced at the complex, which welcomes up to 450-500 guests all year round. The new equipment is based on two-stage wastewater treatment technology that enables treatment of 95% at water making it suitable for watering plants on the territory of the complex.

BENEFITS

As a result of the new wastewater treatment facility, Supara has reduced the consumption of clean water for irrigation by 30%, which is more than 20,000 m3 per year.
